Motorcycle Exhibition

In an impressive way, the motorcycle exhibition at our castle presents its visitors with the foundation of the DKW Factory by Jorgen Skafte Rasmussen at the beginning of the 20th century.

With his own economic foresight and side by side with other clever allies, he managed to entrench the two-stroke engine and bring various motorcycle models on the market. Thus, the company turned into the world’s biggest motorcycle factory only two decades after its foundation.

The exhibition’s main highlight is the recently re-designed “Collection Rasmussen” presenting precious historic
motorcycles, stationary engines as well as unique items and personal belongings from the beginnings of DKW. The exhibits are the result of the long-lasting collecting and restoring by Mr Jorgen Skafte Rassmussen in order to remind of his grandfather and founder of DKW. The collection serves as a reminder of the skills of the engineers and workers in our region. Thus, Mr Rasmussen handed the collection over to Zschopau, to bring it back to its roots and too be sure that he found a trustworthy place to cherish and keep alive the lifework of his grandfather.

Furthermore, the exhibition presents major parts of the MZ products – such as most of the well-known serial produced motorcycles, as well as Enduro and street racing machines.

A special feature is the video screen on which the visitors can choose between several documentaries about the history of DKW, MZ and Zschopau to enter the fascinating world of motorcycles.
